Draw the Line Contest

Mini-Comics Contest

In recognition of Banned Books Week, National Comic Book Day, and the Year of the Arts at W&M, William & Mary Libraries invites students to explore through visual media some instance of student activism – current or historical, local or from afar – for the inaugural W&M Libraries "Draw the Line" Comics Contest. As part of the contest, students may enter into an optional "Mini-Comics" category via this submission portal.

The winner of the Mini-Comics contest will receive $250 and their work will be digitally preserved by W&M Libraries and available for reading in the Short Story Machine in Swem Library. Additionally, all submitted works may be eligible for international publication across all 400+ Short Édition Dispensers, with the option to be published and paid annually for your work.

Submissions will run from Monday, September 23, 2024 - the first day of Banned Books Week - through Friday, October 18, 2024. For information about this year's theme, eligibility details, and more, please visit our main contest website.
